Which is Best for You? Spring or Fall Hunting
Archery hunting is the most productive during Spring because natural food sources are scarce at this time. Black bears are hungry and visit our baiting sites on a regular basis. On the other hand, fall black bears have a larger supply of food sources available and don't really need to rely on our baits for sustenance, that's the reason why our Fall black bowhunts are spot and stalk hunts. Another good reason to pick Spring for your next black bear archery hunt is that they have their nicest coats during the early season. By comparison, the late season animals wear their summer coats with many bald spots. In short, choose spring for bear hunting.

Bowhunting black bears is quite popular as they are impressive animals
. They give to bowhunters unforgettable memories and beautiful trophies. In other words, they are
made for archery hunters. Some think that hunting blackbears over bait is not a real challenge.
That's far from the truth, try it
yourself and you will understand what we are talking about. However, bowhunting over bait is
still more feasible for the average bowhunter than bow hunting on ground level. |

Our bowhunts take place in our 500 square miles territory. The archers hunt from tree-stands set up over baits regularly visited by hungry bears. The
baiting process starts a few weeks before the hunt itself. Once discovered by bears, a site has to be
replenished every two days in order to keep their interest. Each bait needs over 1,000 pounds of feeding
material during this preparation period. As you can see, preparing a bait for our hunters is a very serious job. |

One of our secrets for having so many successful archers is to manage the black bear population by limiting the archery hunting pressure which keeps the potential of our territories as high as nature will tolerate. Of course, it means more baits to set up, but our baits always feed plenty of undisturbed bears, and that's what's you should look for.
