THE GREAT MIGRATION OF THE CARIBOUFor years, the summer migration routes of caribou of the legendary George River Herd changed very little. Recently however, things have changed a lot. It is now difficult to predict where those caribou will be during the hunting season. To keep up with this ever changing migration, we often take a last-minute decision right at the floatplane base at Squaw Lake about which area we must hunt. The choice of a camp site is guided by the latest available information about the location of the main caribou herds, and the direction they are taking. Another important factor for a successful hunt is to have access to enough hunting sites to be able to move a group of hunters from one location to another more productive area. Our Camps are Dedicated to Archery HuntingThe recent changes in the migration pattern of the Quebec-Labrador caribou forced us to review our hunting methods in order to give our bowhunters the best hunting opportunities. We settled for a simple but efficient strategy: our camps will be moved during the hunting season between sites prepared in advance, depending on where the herds are located.
